Zentangle Mindful Drawing

Join us for an Evening of mindful drawing with Guest Teacher Laura Oldham of Turning True STudios, as we welcome the new moon.

Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. All of the tangles, or designs, are created using basic elements such as a line, dot, circle, or curve.

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to engage with this way of drawing as we focus on patterns inspired by the moon.

About Laura:

Laura Oldham is the artist behind Turning True Studios, the business she created to showcase her artwork. Turning True Studios features handcrafted pottery, as well as products such as notecards, tea towels, calendars, and stickers. Laura loves to be outdoors—and the natural world informs and inspires much of her artwork. While art has been a constant in her life, Laura received her degree in education and spent thirty years teaching at the elementary level. Bringing the joy of artistic expression to her students was an intentional focus of her career. Now retired from teaching, Laura is working full-time as an artist.

Laura has taken numerous art courses over the years in ceramics, painting, and drawing and she has her certification in Arts Education. In 2012, she was introduced to the art form, Zentangle, and she embraced the depth of meaning that it holds, not only for creating art, but for living with greater mindfulness and equanimity. She completed training to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) and continues to attend CZT seminars. In addition to using the tangles, or patterns, to enhance her artwork, she also enjoys bringing the practice of Zentangle to others through teaching.
