Make your Own Kinusaiga Monstera Leaf with Marisa Canino

This no-sew project uses the “kinusaiga” technique, which involves tucking fabric into foam for a quilted look. The finished project is 5" square and you will be provided with a frame so it is ready to hang. Participants can choose their fabrics and color scheme to make this project their own. This class is suitable for any level – must be comfortable using a craft knife. All materials provided.

About Melisa Canino

Marisa is a self-taught artist working in a variety of media including acrylic paint, mixed-media collage, and fiber. Her practice frequently centers on portraiture, animals, or landscapes, using color, pattern, and texture as primary tools of inquiry. Through bold palettes and the tactile presence of unconventional materials, she pushes beyond strict representation to invite slow, attentive looking. This process creates space for reflection, where seeing can become a pathway to deeper self-understanding.

Marisa lives in Forest Hill, MD, with her husband, three kids, and a whole bunch of animals including three dogs, a cat, four goats, and some chickens.
