and experiences that nurture your mind and heart

Reconnect to your thriving, one mini-moment at a time

The Thrive Sanctuary is a woman-owned retail shop in the Locust Point neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland

We are a local refuge where plants, mindfulness, and community come together to remind you that thriving doesn’t have to be hard.

You’ll find small and medium-sized air-purifying indoor plants that delight and an added touch of calm and wellness for your home and spaces.

Plus, stay for the small group experiences rooted in calm with journaling, meditation, and other mindfulness workshops to help you tend to your thriving.

Founded by Elena Sonnino, the Thrive Sanctuary meets you where you are in a way that feels human, healing, and real.

It is built on the belief that plants are a doorway into thriving, and that small acts of tending bring big bursts of joy.

Discover a small assortment of items to help you tend to your thriving from the inside out, like journals, candles, books, and more.

Thrive with Us
Meet the Founder of The Thrive Sanctuary

Elena Sonnino

The idea for the Thrive Sanctuary came to Elena while training for an ultra-endurance hiking event. And because one of her core values is curiosity, she allowed the seed of possibility to be planted, even if she had no experience in retail.

Real talk: honestly, other than loving plants and having “too many” in her home (according to her husband, Simon), she didn’t have formal horticulture experience either. But what Elena knows and believes is that tending to your thriving is an ongoing journey. A journey that requires trust, ease, and curiosity and is nourished by the wonder of mini-moments.

She’s looked to plants and nature as a source of healing and inspiration for years, in her own life and with her coaching and meditation clients. And now, she is blending her love of plants, her experience as a coach, retreat guide, yoga and mindfulness teacher – and her belief in the power of gathering in community – to Locust Point in Baltimore, Maryland, at The Thrive Sanctuary.

What most people say about Elena is that she brings delightful sparks of energy to everything she does. And she is over the moon to bring that spark of unapologetic, easeful, and delighted energy to life with this new space, as a way to invite even more people to tend to their thriving – one plant, and one moment of presence and calm at a time.
